Core Description

In 2026, technical excellence is no longer enough to secure market entry. CNI organisations operate within a high-stakes paradox: the pace of innovation is accelerating, while the decision structures governing them have never been more risk-averse. Direct Intelligence engineers the Institutional Safety Case required to bridge this divide.

Direct Intelligence Limited is an institutional intelligence, standards consultancy and AI systems business. We serve CNI clients exclusively.

We exist because CNI organisations face a specific problem: the gap between technical capability and institutional traction. Organisations build exceptional products, platforms and services - then stall when selling into institutions that decide slowly, demand governance credentials and filter suppliers through compliance before capability.

We close that gap. Through intelligence that maps decision environments, consulting that navigates institutional complexity, standards that unlock procurement pathways, systems that automate operations, training that builds capability, and capital strategy that finances growth.

Biography

Gary Daniel Doran is the founder of Direct Intelligence, an institutional intelligence and advisory practice focused on organisations operating within critical national infrastructure sectors.

His work centres on the intersection of institutional decision systems, behavioural economics, governance frameworks and advanced analytical technologies, particularly the role these forces play in shaping how complex organisations evaluate capability, risk and trust.

Gary's career spans more than two decades across sales leadership, strategic marketing and commercial programme design, working with organisations operating in both B2B and B2C markets. Over that time he has led and supported the development of large-scale acquisition, engagement and operational programmes across multiple sectors.

Alongside commercial practice he has pursued sustained academic study in areas including strategic marketing, decision science, business intelligence, data science and artificial intelligence. This combination of applied commercial experience and interdisciplinary research led to the development of the DIRECT™ framework - Doran Integrated Rational-Emotional Cognitive Theory - which underpins the advisory approach used by Direct Intelligence.

Through Direct Intelligence he works with organisations seeking to translate advanced capability into institutional adoption within highly regulated markets, supporting the strategic positioning, governance readiness and operational systems required to operate successfully in these environments.

Founder Statement

“Modern institutions face a growing paradox. Technological capability has never been more advanced, yet genuinely valuable solutions struggle to move through the decision structures that govern them. We prefer to address these technical requirements directly - aligning advanced capability with institutional trust.”
